our Story

A Georgian townhouse blending period character with modern comforts

Hertford Street was built in the 1770s to meet the growing demand for aristocratic townhouses required for the London Season.

Designed by renowned architect Henry Holland, the street offered elegant residences within easy reach of the royal palaces and Parliament, in the heart of the thriving city.

Originally constructed as grand private homes, Hertford Street’s houses evolved over time to reflect the changing needs of London visitors. In the early twentieth century, many were divided into spacious apartments, continuing to welcome residents and hosting society gatherings in their shared ballrooms.

In 1970, 9 Hertford Street began a new chapter as a collection of serviced residences, offering guests the elegance of a Georgian pied-a-terre with modern comforts. Since 2013, the property has been operated by Andrew, Aude, and Vladimir under AVA Hospitality Ltd., alongside a loyal and long-standing team dedicated to concierge and housekeeping services.

Though ownership and lifestyles have changed over the years, 9 Hertford Street has retained its character as an elegant central London base from which to enjoy a fulfilling stay in the capital.
