Country Life has just published an article recommending the best wine bars to visit in central London and we are delighted to share that Shepherd Market’s Noble Rot and Farm Shop Wine Bar on Farm Street have been featured.
Noble Rot
Opening its doors just 3 years ago, Noble Rot is a fantastic addition to the selection of restaurants in Shepherd Market. Offering a menu specialising in innovative and indulgent cuisine, it offers a superb selection of wines to complement its dishes. Winner of the National Restaurant Awards’ Wine List of the Year, its range includes house wines and rare vintages.
Country Life’s Emma Hughes advises: “The restaurant section books up quickly, but both the upstairs and downstairs bars welcome walk-ins, with much of the main menu on offer alongside an unrivalled selection of sips and pours (several unusual sparkling wines, full bodied French whites and a Greek rose were among the standouts when we last visited).”
Farm Shop Wine Bar
One of our favourite local food shops is Farm Shop which sells seasonal produce, cheeses, condiments, meats, toasties and freshly-made sandwiches. Downstairs is the Wine Bar which is an absolute gem. Their wine list features 150 bin wines from around the world. Book a table and enjoy sampling the wines; if you would like to eat too, they serve seasonal small plates, charcuterie and cheeseboards.
Hughes recommends: “Pull up a chair in either the original cellar, which gets busy straight after work, or the upstairs former butcher, which is better for a date. Wines are mostly from small producers, including the in-house Maid of Bruton fizz, and the food is superb, with British cheeses and charcuterie as well as larger dishes like a roast chicken sharing board and proper puds.”
