To coincide with the release of the concluding Downton Abbey story, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (which will be in UK cinemas from 12 September), London is hosting two exhibitions which celebrate the iconic historical drama.
Downton Abbey Auction at Bonhams
Today has seen the opening of Bonhams’ exhibition of props and costumes ahead of its auction on 16 September. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see both antique and replica pieces alongside beautifully crafted costumes and fascinating ephemera. Highlights include the Grantham family car (1925 Sunbeam), Lady Edith and Lady Mary’s wedding dresses and accessories, several of Violet Crawley’s costumes, the iconic servants bell wall, a signed series 1 script and a film clapper board.

Fleurs de Villes Downton Abbey at Kew Gardens
Celebrating the 1930s fashion of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Kew Gardens will be hosting a breathtaking installation which is the creation of Fleurs de Villes. Featuring gowns from the forthcoming film, this masterpiece of floral creativity will be open from 22 September to 1 October.
Karen Marshall from Fleurs de Villes explains: “Fleurs de Villes has a rich history of floral storytelling, and we are thrilled to bring the world of Downton Abbey to life with the UK run of this spectacular show in the magnificent setting of Kew Gardens. Each fresh floral installation, created by London’s finest floral designers, is a celebration of exquisite local floral artistry, heritage, and the timeless elegance of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.”
In addition to the display, there is a programme of demonstrations and talks, and afternoon tea will be available in Kew’s Orangery. Exhibition tickets include entry to Kew Gardens.
