Ideas for a romantic break in London

Described by Sara Bareilles as “Aesthetically, …just beautiful; it’s a gorgeous city. The architecture, monuments, the parks, the small streets – it’s an incredible place to be”, we feel that London is the perfect destination for a romantic break. Indeed, London topped the poll on the www.misstravel.com website as the most romantic city in Europe.

Here are our recommendations of some of the loveliest things to do in London as a couple:

AIRE Ancient Baths
Treat yourselves to the ultimate luxurious pampering experience – relax in the candlelit ancient baths within the tranquil setting of Aire Baths London (situated near Covent Garden).

Candlelit tour of Sir John Soane’s Museum
For art, architecture and history lovers, an evening candlelit tour of Sir John Soane’s Museum is a must. Offered throughout the year, these special events focus on a different theme each month.

Dinner cruise
Discover London after dark by taking a Thames dinner cruise where you can see the sights whilst enjoying a relaxing meal.

London Eye: Cupid Pod
View the capital from your private Cupid Pod on the London Eye (Europe’s tallest observation wheel); a bottle of Pommery Rosé Champagne, a luxury box of pink Champagne truffles and priority boarding are included in the ticket price.

London’s parks and gardens
Did you know that 18% of London is covered by gardens and parks? There are so many beautiful green spaces to stumble upon and explore. Our favourites are Green Park and Hyde Park (both very local to us) and the wonderful Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

Pretty Woman: The Musical
The story of Vivian and Edward’s romance has been transformed into the most spectacular theatre show featuring choreography from two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell and accompanied by a wonderful score written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. Hailed by Visit London as “the number 1 most romantic thing to do in London”, it’s the perfect choice for a romantic trip to the theatre.

Visit the Royal Opera House
Enjoy either an opera or ballet production within the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Opera House. Productions for 2022 include Nabucco and Romeo & Juliet.

Sarastro
Located on Drury Lane in the heart of Theatreland, Sarastro is a quirky restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine and live music in a theatrical setting. A recent diner described it as “so unique… we were fortunate enough to be seated in one of the balcony tables which we loved. During our meal we had a live performance from a singer and after our food we joined the whole restaurant on the floor dancing and singing, all customers involved which was really rather lovely. I would most certainly love to return”.

Intimate meal in Shepherd Market
Shepherd Market, which is just a minutes’ walk away from Hertford Street, is a quiet corner of London offering a fabulous range of historic pubs, bars and restaurants – just perfect for a cosy meal for two.

The View from the Shard
Take in the most breathtaking views from the tallest building in the UK. Standing at 309.6 metres high, on a clear day you can see as far as 40 miles away!
