London: What’s launching in 2026

The 9 Hertford Street team can verify that one can never get tired of our capital; it seems that whenever you explore the city, there is always something new to discover. From 2026, London promises even more fantastic things to enjoy with an exciting array of new attractions and museums. This article provides you with all you need to know.

Summit: Ally Pally Rooftop Adventure (opening 14 February 2026)

Alexandra Palace, fondly known as Ally Pally, is an entertainment venue situated on a hill in north London, offering fabulous views of the city. The Summit experience will allow visitors to traverse the highest roof walk in the UK at 130 metres above sea level. On a clear day, it will offer views over 25 miles. Tickets are now on sale.

New: V&A East Museum (opening 18 April 2026)

The V&A East Museum, located at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, promises galleries which will explore design, creativity, fashion and art. As well as a permanent collection, there will be rotating exhibitions, too.

New: Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration (opening May 2026)

The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, which will be located in Clerkenwell, will explore and celebrate the art of illustration as a visual means of storytelling. The centre will offer opportunities to study the works of illustrators and create pieces of your own.

Housed in the former waterworks, the centre will have three galleries as well as an illustration library, gardens, café and shop.

Launch of Grosvenor Square woodland garden (opening summer 2026)

A year-long enhancement project at this 300-year-old Mayfair square will see it enriched with more than 67,000 new plants, 82,000 new bulbs and 44 new trees. A wildflower lawn and ponds will create all-important habitats for wildlife. The square will have the capacity to seat over 350 people on a variety of structures, and there will be the opportunity to purchase refreshments on site.

Re-opening of London Museum at its new location in Smithfield (opening late 2026)

The fascinating London Museum will be opening in Smithfield, the former home of London’s livestock market which ran here from the 1100s to 2025. This important museum, which closed its doors at its former location at the Barbican in 2022, tells the history of our beloved capital through an extensive, varied collection of artefacts. The archive features over 7 million objects, charting the history of London and its inhabitants over thousands of years.
