Open air, family-friendly things to do in London this summer

Dodge: Futuristic Fairground at Somerset House
15 July – 22 August
The beautiful courtyard at Somerset House is hosting Dodge – a futuristic fairground, this summer. Here you will find musical dodgems, art installations and food by the wonderful Jimmy Garcia. The dodgem rides will be like no other you have experienced before – the random movements of the cars will, through wireless technology, generate lights and electronic sounds. Each car has its unique music and every ‘bump’ will spark “explosive new musical material” from Mercury Prize-shortlisted musician Anna Meredith and sound artist Nick Ryan.

Now – 19 September
Take the opportunity to visit Buckingham Palace Garden this summer where you can explore the 39 acres of grounds and see historic highlights including the Plane trees planted by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and the lake’s island which is home to the Buckingham Palace bees. Picnics are welcome so why not call in at one of our fabulous local eateries beforehand for a takeout or hamper to enjoy during your outing (food is also available to purchase there). Tickets are sure to sell fast so we would strongly advise you secure your booking as soon as you can.
