Royal Ascot

A highlight of the summer social calendar is the historic Royal Ascot which our directors Aude and Vladimir attended on Friday.

Ascot Racecourse, and Royal Ascot, were established by Queen Anne in 1711; she came across a heath whilst riding from Windsor Castle which she felt was ‘ideal for horses to gallop at full stretch’, and her plans for the new race meeting were published in the London Gazette that July.

Royal Ascot is famous for its style as much as sport. In the Royal Enclosure, men are required to wear a full morning suit with either grey or black top hat, and ladies must wear a hat or a headpiece with a solid base of at least 10cm and ‘modestly cut’ dresses, trousers or jumpsuits. In the Queen Anne Enclosure and Village Enclosure, men must wear a suit and ladies, a dress and hat. The Windsor Enclosure doesn’t enforce a dress code, however most attendees enjoy the opportunity to wear something fabulous!

Tickets are already on sale for next year’s meetings, which will be held from 20 to 24 June 2023.
