A free exhibition will be held at Christie’s between 14 and 24 June ahead of the sale of items from iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood’s personal wardrobe.

What’s on sale

The two hundred lots will include fashion, jewellery and accessories which span four decades. The earliest pieces are from the 1983/84 Witches collection, progressing onto items from the Dressed to Scale collection (1998/99) and the Propaganda collection (2005/06).

Raising money for charities

The money raised from the auctions will be distributed between The Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières and Greenpeace.

The auctions

The lots will be for sale at two auctions: a live sale on 25 June then an online auction held between 14 and 28 June.

Christie’s comment

Adrian Hume Sayer, Director Private & Iconic Collections at Christie’s explains “Vivienne Westwood’s sense of activism, art and style is embedded in each and every piece that she created. The pre-sale exhibition and auctions at Christie’s will celebrate her extraordinary vision with a selection of looks that mark significant moments not only in her career, but also in her personal life. This will be a unique opportunity for audiences to encounter both the public and the private world of the great Dame Vivienne Westwood and to raise funds for the causes in which she so ardently believed.

Getting there

The exhibition will be held at Christie’s headquarters at 8 King Street, St James’s, London, SW1Y 6QT, just a 14-minute walk from Hertford Street.
